SITE LOCATION
Prizren lies in the southern part of Kosovo, and is considered as a place that for many years has made the unification of Albanian people and territories in meetings at the national level, but also in popular, religious or even cultural movements.
The very architecture of the city of Prizren, which went through many periods of wars and historical events, makes us realize that this city encompasses a tradition of cultural heritage preservation.
For years and centuries in the city of Prizren have been living people of different nationalities and religious affiliation. The residents of the city feel in the streets and neighborhoods the sense of hearing different languages and religious rituals that belong to the city.
The selected location for the construction of the Jewish-Albanian Museum/Synagogue is just inside the old city, respectively in the Rruga e Bujtinave (Guesthouses’ street), also known as the ‘neck of the church’.
The above mentioned building for years served as a guesthouse in the service of the many passengers passing through Prizren. It was the place that they rested in order to continue the started journey the next day.
During the history and continuing to this day the city of Prizren is the epicenter of the Albanian towns and territories. Prizren is characterized for various events happening during our history and it is a place of union of the tribes, customs and traditions.
Its geographical position justifies the culture of this city of traditions and religions belonging to the Albanian people. This tradition was inherited and continues to prevail even today.
